1020 Project (2020)

In spite of the COVID problems we completed a face to face performance project in October 2020.

This took place at the Fairfield Community Sports Hub in Dundee.

It started off being a performance project but then, when it became clear that although we could safely run the project, we could not safely tour a play, it became a film project.

This was not ideal, to make such a radical change right at the start and it was a challenge for all involved. However, the team of Veterans and staff rose to that challenge and produced a series of short films, all of which are available on Vimeo.

The songs are a real highlight and are all written and performed by the participants. The story of what it is like navigating the streets of Carnoustie when blind is also a highlight.

As part of the project one of the Colin recorded his life story. He had wanted to achiever this for years and he has now done so. It is a harrowing story including abuse as a child, his time in the army and the challenges he has met as a gay person in civilian life – but it is a very significant story in many ways.
