I am a community drama and aerial dance artist from Shetland (now living in Central Scotland). I’ve worked in community theatre since 2011. Before that I trained as an actor and then a drama teacher. I’ve always been interested in how we can use drama and theatre for social change and to enable people to feel more positive and connected to others. I’ve been working with Stand Easy since 2017 on various projects.

My favourite thing about working with Stand Easy is that I get meet and spend time with wonderful, interesting people who I might not normally get to meet. I enjoy seeing people grow in confidence and do things they didn’t think they could!

Josef Boon, Freelance Artist - Veterans weekly workshops

I am a freelance actor, facilitator and all-round theatre maker from the North East of Scotland. My work ranges from performing on stage and film, to working closely with community theatre groups, projects and exhibitions telling the stories of veterans and their families. Currently I am in the process of building my own home recording studio so I can really get stuck into voice over production. Eventually I would love to learn puppetry and finish writing the play I have had on the back burner for months!

I facilitate the weekly Veterans workshops in Dundee, as well a supporting Stand Easy on some performance projects. It never ceases to amaze me at how creative, honest, witty and caring our participants are and at how I will often leave each session with my face aching from laughter or unable to stop pondering on a poignant story that was shared. What I enjoy most, however, is seeing the positive changes in participants as they come out of their shell, relax and ultimately are able to leave any stress at the door for a few hours. It is a truly rewarding thing to be a part of.

When I don't have my work hat on, you can find me wandering through the Grampian forest, playing Dungeons & Dragons or trying to convince my partner to adopt a dog.

Taylor Dyson, Freelance Artist - Veterans weekly workshops

My name is Taylor Dyson and I work as an assistant with the weekly workshops for Stand Easy. I've also performed and devised with Stand Easy for The Live Life Farm Day projects.

I am a performer, playwright and poet based in Dundee and work as a facilitator for Dundee based charity, Art Angel.

I have a huge passion for making the arts more accessible, and my theatre company Elfie Picket Theatre, produce new work with a huge focus on working class stories and strive to bring theatre into communities in Dundee and beyond.

Paul McDonald - freelance artist

Paul works with Stand Easy on a range of projects, including Creative Retreats and Family Weekends.

I am formerly a Critical Care Specialist of many years who now practices as an Artist, Facilitator, and Support Agent in the fields of Community Drama, Dramatherapy, and Well-Being. I have a special interest in working with those with mental and physical health issues and those with lived trauma experience.

What I most enjoy most about Stand Easy is the diversity of the work; the enthusiastic participants, and the amazing team that I work with. In my experience, the level of training, support, and reward received through working with this organisation is incredibly high in nature. The professional standards at an organisational level, and the excellent examples of communication and teamwork within the group are highly desirable in this field. Most important is the in-person work with participants which is stimulating and rewarding in nature. It is highly satisfying and professionally validating to play a part in bringing about positive affect in the lives of others with Stand Easy.
