Projects for families:
Stand Easy runs a variety of projects for military and veteran families, including Creative weekends and Family day. If you are interested in taking part in any of our projects for families please contact Hannah, 07833750937, standeasy.livelife@gmail.com.
All our projects are free to take part in.
Creative Family weekends:
In 2019, as part of the Live Life partnership, Stand Easy was awarded funding to begin to work with Veteran and military families. Through our work with veterans we had become aware of the need to provide support to the whole family, not just the veteran.
We deliver twice yearly Creative Weekends for veteran/military families. The project takes place in Edinburgh but overnight accommodation is provided therefore the project is open to families from across Scotland.
Families take part in two days of Creative activities, including filmmaking, drama, movement and writing. The project is open to the whole family, people can also attend as individuals if they prefer. Although the whole family can join we split the group up into veterans, adult family members (including spouses, widow/ers and former partners) and young people.
The project is completely free to take part in, all travel, accommodation, transport and food costs are covered.
Family Days
Stand Easy works in partnership with a number of organisations, including Cyrenians, Veterans Tribe Scotland, Reading Force and The Haven at Vanguard, to deliver Family Days. These days usually include a range of activities, these have previously including arts and crafts, animation, pony meet and greet, circus skills. As part of the events we deliver filmmaking workshops and offer family-friend promenade performances.
The family days take place at various locations including the Cyrenians Farm in Kirknewton and The Haven in Strathaven.
